Anti-Ableist Teaching

Resources, curriculum, and professional learning for educators building more accessible, disability-centered classrooms and communities.

What is anti-ableist teaching?

The Anti-Ableist Teaching Project is a multi-year project...designed to support teachers who want to resist ableism at their schools; we have identified a need to provide enhanced resources for challenging ableism.

“...anti-ableist teaching is not a strategy but a stance...redesigning learning conditions so students no longer have to contort themselves to be seen as capable.”

- Aliemma Kanu -

“I wanted students to explore the idea that everyone has assets, needs, and areas to grow, especially in education.”

- Katie Twyman -

“It is a joy to see students develop a deeper awareness of ableism in our society and what we can do to create inclusivity and accessibility for all.”
